Sean Cham is an artist and researcher based between London and Singapore.

In his artistic practice, he works at the intersections of photography, performance, and installation. His interdisciplinary and critical practice is concerned with histories and built environments; particularly considering ideas around authorship, contestation, gaps, migration, and memories. Cham’s works were exhibited in Ethiopia, Germany, Singapore, South Korea, Spain, and Sweden. His works had been commissioned by M1 Singapore Fringe Festival (2019), The Future of Our Pasts Festival (2019), and NUS Centre For the Arts (2019). He is also a published author — Yesteryears (Math Paper Press, 2017).

Cham is currently a PhD student in History of Art, on a Collaborative Doctoral Partnership between Birkbeck and the National Gallery, London, fully funded by the AHRC. His doctoral work is interested in museum studies, gaps in the archives, and colonial legacies. He has also worked on projects surrounding heritage studies, conservation, and social history.

Cham graduated with a BA (Hons) in Urban Studies from Yale-NUS College in 2019, and an MA in Situated Practice (Distinction) from the Bartlett School of Architecture, University College London, in 2021.
